Bill Would Ban Arsonists From Being Firefighters

It may seem like something that should already be the law, but a Senate committee passed a bill Thursday that would ban arsonists from being firefighters.

I think the bigger Problem is what Lolo said. Fire fighters becoming arsonist just so they can have something to do and see fire.

I think you two might have missed the point a bit. No bill is going to solve that short of making stiffer penalties for firefighters convicted of arson (and even that would would never come close to quashing it completely). You can't keep out every last person who has the potential to be a firebug. This bill will help in keeping out known arsonists though thereby lowering the chances of having a firefighter arsonist.

i understood the article you posted,and yes,i was off topic about firefighters who can be arsonists.i was just thinking about this when i replied to your thread.today,i'm looking for my head,lol.

When the state passed the Firefighter Registration Act earlier this decade it was assumed that arson would be an automatic disqualification by most in the fire service.It didn't happen. Glad to see the SC General Assembly finally get around to fixing their original mistake.

Of course, it's still got to be signed by our idiot, libertarian clad in republican clothing, governor.

It probably will, since the Republican dominated legislators go out of their way to overrule any vetoes Sanford uses.
