Default First structure fire as chief

Though I have been through this before as assistant chief - I got one of my very own last night and all the fun, joy, and NFIRS paperwork that goes with it.
Here's a link with some pics:
http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/73113...70238576_uNAxq

The home owner kept a pot of oil on her stove to cook with and went to boil the kettle for tea and accidentally turned on the wrong burner. She went into another room and lost track of time (was waiting for the kettle to whistle) and soon heard a loud bang. Returned to her kitchen to find it fully engulfed.

Great pics Jen. You're lucky, the person that takes our photos usually only shows up during daylight hours or after most of the action is over.

OMG she lives! I was about to make a trip up to Canada and start searching the back alleyways behind bars looking for your body.

it was great. I was a little stressed in the very beginning when it looked like this:

and the hydrant was frozen and the radios were acting up... But once the interior attack team was able to make a little headway, it all fell into place.

You wouldnt be finding any remains there at least not mine....best place to locate my carcass would be in my quarters, most likey in my bedroom surrounded by piles of training manuals, Dr.Pepper cans, cheesestring wrappers, empty cigarette packages and numerous bottles of painkillers, muscle relaxants and sedatives with Metallica playing on my windows music player from my laptop on the foot of the bed!
