Default Bush To Honor Chesapeake Firefighter

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - A Chesapeake volunteer firefighter who also is an emergency medical technician, Cub Scout leader and naval petty officer is getting a presidential honor.

President George W. Bush plans to present Jesse Alvarado with the President’s Volunteer Service Award on Saturday in Norfolk.

Alvarado was the Chesapeake Fire Department Auxiliary’s 2007 rookie of the year. He responded to more than 200 calls.

Wow, my last tour in the navy we lived in Chesapeake, and my son earned his Arrow of Light in Pack 42. It's good to hear that someone like this dude is being honored. And a squid too, I'm so proud (sniff).
